February will rock because:

Sunday, January 31st, 2010

1. It’s no longer January.

2. We might perhaps maybe move into a new apartment, maybe, if we’re lucky?

3. What’s smack bang in the middle of February? Valentine’s Day, that’s what!

4. It’s the last winter month, at least according to the calendar!

5. I will try to get better at taking my camera with me. Starting tomorrow, I will lug that thing around wherever I go. I’ve been recycling way too many photos lately.

6. One of my photos will be in an actual, proper book.

Remember when the days used to be like this? We’re getting closer to it every day! :)

Makeover

Saturday, January 30th, 2010

Phew! As you can probably tell, I’ve done quite a few changes to Miss Blog today – I’ve been a busy bee! I changed the header, the background color, and I made a photography section, and a little “best of” section too! Oh and I also made a bunch of drawings and buttons that took forever to make, but that didn’t turn out the way I wanted them to look, so I scrapped them. I was torn between a look with all hand-drawn links and buttons, and this cleaner look. I think it turned out quite nice! What do you think? :)

Blog work aside, we’ve mostly been cleaning today. It’s always good to get some crap out of the way! While cleaning I kept thinking about the possibility of getting to pack everything up and moving to a bigger place, oh how I hope that we get that apartment! I don’t want to tell you too much about it in case we don’t get it – I’m superstitious and I don’t want to jinx it. But it’s big and wonderful and will cut down my walk-to-work time with at least 30 minutes every day. Le sigh. Keep crossing your fingers for me!

I’ve also taken time off work to attend the publishing party for the book that used my photo, so it looks like I’ll be traveling to Oslo again in mid February! Facebook event here if you’re interested :)

Also, did you notice how close the moon is to the earth tonight? Go outside and look, it’s a full moon and everything!

Short news post

Friday, January 29th, 2010

I just wanted to tell you that I’m on the shortlist for my dream apartment right now, and that I’m meeting with the landlord on Monday. The finances seem to be in place, the timing is great – I can’t believe my luck these days. Here’s hoping we get it, keep your fingers crossed for us!

Saturday will be the official blog-fiddling day. If I don’t do something awesome tomorrow, slap me. Oh, and for you Norwegians/Swedes – Here’s a song  ;)

Good News

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Just a quick post to tell you about some really happy news that I got yesterday – One of my photographs are going to be published in a book!  This photograph, to be exact. I’m sure a  lot of you have seen it on my blog before :)

Antlers 2

I was told last night, and I can honestly say that I did the happydance in my chair for the rest of the evening, as I was really hoping I’d be picked. The book in question is called “Because I deserve it?” (My translation, not an official English title) and is a collection of stories about bullying – from both the bullies, the bullied, and their families’ points of view. More information can be found here. I can’t wait to see my photo in print!

Also, I know I’ve been a less than active blogger lately – I’ve got plans to sit down and do some proper work this weekend. There might even be some visual changes :)

Creative blogger award + things that appear out of nowhere

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

I have received a creative blogger award from the lovely Gudrun of hodetmitt.no! Thanks a bunch hon! I now have to write 7 things you didn’t know about me. I’m not sure there’s much left by now – the archives go 6 years back in time, after all! But okay, let’s give it a go.

1. I’ve written two bachelor papers – one on the use of Medusa in art, and one on the land art movement. I didn’t have to write two, I chose to :)

2. I still own a Furby.

3. I hate robots.

4. I used to play the flute and sing in choirs.

5. I hoard perfume, I’ve got way more bottles than I’ll ever empty. I currently switch between Chanel’s Chance and Boss Orange.

6. I LOVE note books.

7. I’ve watched the movie Mean Girls more times than I’d like to admit.

Phew! Ok, on to part two of the post:

Things that appear out of nowhere.

What’s that big black square in the corner..?

I came home one day after work and THIS was in our apartment. I had to give back my borrowed Intuos 3 before Christmas (BIG thanks to my brother-in-law Tom for lending it to me!) and was very sad to see it go. So imagine my surprise when this thing appeared out of nowhere! Marius has decided to pick his drawing hobby back up, so he bought himself this baby without telling me. I’ve been assured that I’ll get to borrow it as often as I want. Whee! <3
