The love of my life

Sunday, March 28th, 2010

So! Seeing as I’ve been letting you in on the control freak side of me this week (see my bag), I thought I’d try and go a little deeper and try to explain to you why I carry around something as old fashioned as a Filofax. I know, what is this, the eighties? Why haven’t I just plotted every plan and note I have into my my smartphone? Hang on, let me count the reasons.. :)

1) The smell of leather. I could smell this thing all day.

2) The charm of handwritten notes and the joy of being able to cross things out when you’ve the things you planned to do that day.

2) Blank pages, waiting to have new ideas scribbled on them.

3) To do lists. Checking boxes is just as fun as crossing things out! (For you English readers, the to dos for 2010 are “work out three times a week”, “save up money”, “find apartment”, become tidy”, “Eat breakfast”, “Get long hair” and “Become blood donor”)

4) Award stars to the local takeaways.

5) Plan outfits and draw on bob-haired naked lady.

6) Knowing what you’ve got to look forward to.

7) Keep life’s necessities close at all times :)

Shoes and proposals

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

Today I looked like this. Not a very exciting day, except – EXCEPT – that a costumer proposed to me over the phone. Never talked to the guy before, but apparently, he wanted to marry me. Three cheers for great costumer service, I guess! I told him I had a boyfriend, which made the man flustered enough to hang up.

Proposal-man, if you’re reading this:

You’re not missing out on much. Oh man, I love gifs, don’t you?

In other news, I work this Saturday so I’m looking at a one-day weekend. I’m going to squeeze as much movie-watching, face-stuffing and nail-polishing into that Sunday as I possibly can. We’re looking at a tight schedule of carefully planned slacking!

What’s in your bag?

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

Here’s what currently resides in my bag! I do these posts on flickr from time to time, but most of you probably don’t visit my flickr very often, so here you go! I’m also a teensy bit inspired by this post by Mewkid – as you can see, the contents of her bag is way more colorful than mine. Now, you can probably judge a girl pretty well by what’s in her bag, so tell me – what can you tell about me from looking at the things I carry around with me?

1. Daily planner. Despite being obsessed with gadgets, I still prefer to keep my daily plans in pen and paper. There’s just an extra charm in a hand-written, leather-bound journal, you know?

2. Wallet

2. Glasses (Yes I wrote 2 twice, sue me!)

3. Card holder

4. My business cards, despite the fact that I do not actually have a business :)

5. Headphones/handsfree

6. Lip balm / Lip stick

7. Black and red pens

8. Kleenex

9. Hand sanitizer

10. Black kohl eye liner

11. Mirror

12. Phone

13. Another phone. Yes, ANOTHER phone. I have a spare phone number you see, for when I borrow phones from work. And I can’t just have a simcard floating around in my bag, so I put it inside an old phone to keep it safe.

14. Painkillers / Antique pill box

15. Key card

16. Bag holder from vesker.no. It’s a small hook that you put on your desk/café table to keep your handbag off the floor! Neat, huh?

17. Last but not least, my keys.

And then they were two

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

And so it was Sunday evening! It could be the fact that my baby sister (Yes, baby sister!) has gone home, it could be the fact that I’ve got PMS (Yes, Lady times are upon us and I don’t care if you know it) but I’ve been feeling a bit blues-y tonight. Complete with Tom Waits and quality time with the laptop in a corner of the sofa. And tea. But I’ve been reading this blog post about nice things that nice guys do, on a newly discovered feminist blog, and I’ve decided that the world really is a nice place, despite lady times, because it has nice guys and little sisters in it, and boyfriends who cook lasagna, let’s not forget! And it was really nice to read a blog with some proper content and not just glossy photos of shoes and handbags, although lord knows I love shoes and handbags, but you just can’t read about shoes while listening to Tom, you know?

So yes. I’m in that mood. Hormonal and soppy.

We had a great weekend, by the way, but I guess you already figured that out. We didn’t get to bake cake, but we did eat Indian takeout, shop, watch Alice in Wonderland again in 3D (I actually thought it was better this time around – I was disappointed last time i watched it, because I felt the Disney/Burton ratio was off in the not-enough-Burton-too-much-Disney sense, but this time I just sat back and enjoyed), stuffed our faces with cream eggs and read magazines on the sofa. Although, I must admit, I didn’t do a lot of shopping. I bought some nail polish and some polka-dot tights. Why?

I put myself up on the waiting list for the Alexa. I’m fourth in line. I’m savin’ mah pennies.

Oh, and also because I sneakily shopped on topshop.com the other day. Shh!  …I’m really portraying myself as the ultimate material girl, aren’t I.

In other news, Easter plans are finally all set – I’m visiting my family Easter weekend. I can’t wait :)

Oh, and my sister is awesome. Happy Sunday, everyone! :)
