Sisterly bonding time

Tuesday, March 16th, 2010

I got some really great news today – my little sister is coming to visit this weekend! This is the first time anyone gets to really see the apartment since we moved in, and it’s the first time my sis comes to visit us on her own, so this is a big deal, let me tell you. We’ve bought an extra duvet and everything. No blankets for MY sister, oh no! So now I’m sitting here planning all kinds of girly activities. Shopping? Check. Movies? Check. Maybe even Chocolate cake? What do you say, sis? ;)

I can’t wait. The sisters Piraja haven’t been together since Christmas!

So what else is new? I returned to the gym yesterday after a good month’s break. I thought it would be horrible, but I did a good hour on the elliptical with no problem. Go body! I definitely need to do some more strength training though (ugh, condition training is so much more fun!), so yesterday I downloaded acquired Jillian Michael’s “30 day shred” DVD after hearing about it from a friend. So yes, I will give that a go! I hate strength training at the gym, it’s so crowded. The living room suits me much better right now :)

Three stitches!

Saturday, March 13th, 2010

Let’s just get that out of the way right now – I had THREE stitches removed from my mouth the other day, and I can’t shut up about it because it sounds so badass. THREE!

Ok. Phew.Time to show you around the apartment some more, I think! Today’s room is my office/girly room.

I haven’t been able to figure out which photo to put in that frame yet. Any ideas? :)

This is my little closet nook. Clothes in the closet, boots on the floor…

Shoes on top of the closet! Speaking of shoes, see the brown ones in the back?

I got them today! 220kr, 50% off, real leather. Hooray! Now I just need that pesky snow to melt. We’re nearly at 3 months of snow now.

I looked like this today. I think this cardigan might be my favorite from the Rykiel collection :)

In other news, I went to visit the Mulberry Alexa today. I was THISCLOSE to buying it, I’m not even kidding. My heart started racing and I didn’t want to leave the store. I think I might have to get it a little sooner than I initially planned. At this rate, I’ll be surprised if I’ll even be able to wait until May!

Oh, one last little tidbit. I pre-ordered this baby right here. I got a really nice discount through my job and I just couldn’t resist. it’s the brand new HTC Desire. I can’t wait to get it!

Now with 33% less wisdom tooth

Monday, March 8th, 2010

I guess it’s time to tell you a little about yesterday’s surgery now, huh! I showed up at the dentist’s office at 9am yesterday, very very nervous and with Marius by my side. The dentist’s office is really close to where we live, so I didn’t have a lot of time to be scared, thank goodness. I was greeted by a very friendly assistant before I got to meet the surgeon, who had an awesome name, the kind that really should be featured in some kind of nursery rhyme. I didn’t tell him this though, because I was afraid I’d offend him, and you really don’t want to offend someone who’s about to cut you with a scalpel.

The surgery itself went much better than anticipated – it was over in about thirty minutes, and the most painful thing was the shots of anesthetic that they gave me. They basically removed my tooth and – grossness warning! – removed, quote, “a lot of infected tissue” before they stitched me back up. Then they sent me on my merry (drowsy) way with a bag full of mouth wash, gauze and pain killers. Thank goodness for pain killers. I went to sleep as soon as I could, and lived off of pain killers and cold soup for the rest of the day. I couldn’t speak much, so I mimed things like “Get off the sofa, that’s my spot! I’m in pain, so I’ve got dibs!” and “Chocolate ice cream??” and Marius was a really good sport about it all. I can talk a little bit today, but am still living off soup, and have taken the day off work because of the remaining ouch.

In other news, the tease post didn’t get much attention (POUT!) so I’m posting a few more photos of the apartment.

Sofa corner…

I’m not ready to show you the apartment just yet – we had our last trip to ikea yesterday, so the place is still riddled with half-assembled furniture and empty cardboard boxes. But trust me – it’s starting to look really good. I’ve somehow managed to pick out a lot of lighting, and I thought I’d show you some of it here – my egg-lamps that I got today, some Christmas lights in one of our smaller rooms – and there may or may not be a chandelier in my immediate future. I might have already bought it. Time will tell! ;)

I’ve worked today, so I haven’t had much of a weekend yet. Maren and Kenneth invited us over for brownies, so I’ve basically stuffed my face tonight. The only sensible thing to do, really, seeing as I’m getting oral surgery tomorrow and will probably have to stick to soup for a few days. Damn wisdom teeth, they cause nothing but trouble.

I’m still madly in love with the apartment, by the way. There are crazy pigeons outside our windows at all hours of the day, and because of the slanted walls in our bedroom, I can see both the starry sky and the snowy mountains from our bed. The place is so old that the toilet has it’s own room separate from the bathroom, and there isn’t a single perfectly straight wall or even floor to be found. I plan to live her for many many years :)

Ok, that’s it for tonight – keep your fingers crossed for a non-scary dentist experience tomorrow!
