I don’t know what to say, as a foreigner, but I’m going to give it a shot anyway. A horrifying tragedy took place today, and my heart goes out to the victims, their families, and all of Norway. I can’t say I know how this feels. I was quite young when 9/11 happened and I barely remember it. I remember the aftermath, though. The hundreds of schoolchildren, mourning their parents. The thousands of images of rubble and flame. My country has healed greatly, now with only the scars to show for it. I am sure the same will happen for Norway, but it will be hard and some lives cannot be repaired. I’m rooting for you and all your fellow Norwegians. Good luck.
Thank you M. Your sympathy is greatly appreciated. I remember 9/11 vividly – I had just come home from a school hike on a warm September day and switched on the TV, only to find out what had happened. Like now, I was glued to the TV all weekend, not being able to tear myself away. The helplessness and emptiness is way too familiar. Thankfully my family and friends are safe, but I know that friends of friends are still missing. It is heart-wrenching.
On a more positive note, I am so proud of how my country’s leaders have handled this. They have been calm, collected, and have encouraged people not to jump to any conclusions. They speak of more openness, more democracy. Everyone have been amazing.
I was working when I saw the news alert from WSJ & NYT; these things (I say these things because I feel like such tragedies are becoming more commonplace – what has our world come to?!) paralyze me. I can’t fathom it. It’s surreal, really, to think that someone could even commit such an act in the first place, and that so, so many people would be affected by this.
My heart goes to any and all who have been affected, directly or indirectly. And though American, I’m proud of your leadership – if only ours had done the same. God – or whatever higher power – bless.
My heart goes out to the people of Norway, the families whose lives are forever changed and the victims. It’s an unimaginable and horrifying tragedy. The whole situation makes me feel small and HELPLESS.
It is reassuring to see your leaders standing strong. It’s the unity and reassurance that people need in times of crisis.
Thank you Lindsay. We will get through this, and the unity that has been shown in my country since this tragedy has been incredible, but the whole things really is terrifying. I am trying not to watch the news too much right now and focus on what is positive.
Not a hipster queen, style scout or a fiery fashionista, but a pretty normal 26-year old Norwegian female who loves to write and take pictures. Actually, she's a bit of a nerd. Don't tell her I said that.

Paralyzed is just the word – it is awful and so surreal. Thank you so much Kimberly <3
