We’ve got the keys! Moving in tomorrow!!

Bridal shop, round two

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Let me first of all say – there won’t be any bride photos this time around. Bride’s orders. The wedding day is getting closer and we’re all getting a bit superstitious ;)

Now, I have all sorts of love for the fact that Maren and Kenneth are getting married. First and foremost because they’re wonderful people and a great couple, but also because I’m learning SO much about weddings from being around them. There’s so much that has to be taken into consideration! Things like: Can we get married in this church if only one of us is a registered Christian? Big wedding or small wedding? Did you know that it can take five months from you order your dress until you get it, for example? I had no idea! And everything costs a fortune!

But it’s also curing me for some of my wedding phobias. You see, I’ve never been that girl, the one who dreams about her gown or her big giant wedding, the one that sits around envisioning “her” day. It has just seemed like a whole lot of work. I’ve worked in the kind of shops that couples traditionally register their wish lists in, and I’ve seen my share of manic brides with apathetic grooms-to-be in tow. “Honey, do we want this overpriced vase or this overpriced vase? This white china or that white china?” Or you get the bride flying solo, the martyr, the one who sighs and tells you all about how she has to do it aaaaall by herself and practically expects you to hang a medal around her neck right then and there. So yeah, I’ve been a bit vary of the whole wedding thing. Okay, very vary. Okay, scared shitless.

I’m also getting a newfound understanding for people who choose to spend thousands of dollars on gowns. Maybe not on wedding dresses, but gowns in general – they’re so well constructed! The fabrics, the boning, lacing, pearls.. I could spend hours just looking at how they’re made! They’re pieces of art, and every trick in the book has been used in order to make sure that you look stunning as hell while wearing them. Oh, if only one could afford couture..

But yes. To sum it all up – weddings = yay, gowns = yay, Maren and Kenneth = yay! I can’t wait for their big day :)

Things that wait for you on your desk when you get home from work…

Original here.

What a great way to end the workday! It’s too bad I don’t have time to properly dig in to neither the magazines nor the book right now, but I shall do it as soon as I possibly can. I just got home from work (9pm), so I consider myself excused. It is now definitely dinner time, so I have to sign off!

I also have to add published photographer to my resumé, cough cough.

We got it!

We got the apartment! We got it!!

Actually, scratch that, bold and exclamation marks cannot fully express how happy I am right now. This, however, can:

Sparklee.com - http://www.sparklee.com

Oh yes, that’s right. I went there. I made a sparklee and I’m not even ashamed!

I’ve been grinning all day. On the 20th, we’re moving in. The new place is 70 square meters (the one we live in now is 45) over two floors, 2nd and 3rd floor of a house smack in the middle of Bergen. It’s huge compared to what we have today, nice and open, and the rent is really not bad at all. We live right across the street from a grocery store (that is open on Sundays!), and our next door neighbor is an ecological bakery! I’ll live right next to everything, basically. And it’s ours for at least three years. Two bedrooms. Tons of space. I can’t wait to show you photos of it, but you’ll have to wait till we get to move in! AAH!

Now if you’ll excuse me, we’re making celebratory nachos tonight. Then I’ll be browsing decorating blogs for the rest of the evening! While grinning till my face hurts!

Mandatory loot post

Friday, December 25th, 2009

Oh, what a wonderful evening it was! The food was perfect and a walked like a pregnant lady for the rest of the evening. Christmas eve is really one of those evenings where you wish you had four stomachs, à la cow. Without the whole regurgitation part, of course. Everyone got wonderful presents, we listened to Christmas music, and had a really nice time. It is now past 2pm on Christmas morning, and we are getting ready for breakfast. Same procedure as every year, in other words :)

Okay, onto the loot list:

- Money

- Fancy cutlery

- Persepolis on DVD

- A “World’s best sister” mug (Aaaw!)

- Makeup

- Gift cards

- A pretty handbag

- One year subscription for Elle UK (Hooray!)

- Chanel Chance perfume

- Lenore “Cooties” comic book

- A bracelet

- Swiss chocolate

- A polar pulse watch

- Clothes

The pulse watch will really come in handy. I haven’t been much of a gym bunny this winter, partly because of my health, partly because I prefer to stay inside during the dark winter months, and have thus become a bit flabby. No worries though, I’ll sort that out in January! ;)

What about you, did you get what you wanted this Christmas? :)
