So this is what we’re doing now?

Food blogging?!

Don’t worry, I won’t make a habit of it. To be perfectly honest, I have been out and about today, but I forgot to bring my camera. We went to see “Knight and day” at the movies (I haven’t made up my mind about it yet, partly because it had Tom Cruise in it, partly because the first half pretty much consisted of Cameron Diaz being dragged and thrown around like a confused and screeching rag doll) and we ate ice cream and walked around town and enjoyed the sunshine. It’s supposed to rain for ten days straight now, but it was good while it lasted.

There’s five days left now until my holiday starts, six days until I go to Crete. I’ve tried my hardest not to go and get my suit case and start packing, but I think this might be the evening where I cave in and bring it downstairs. Crete!

Oh and the salad is chicken and couscous, in case anyone were wondering. I’ll photograph something less lame tomorrow, I promise!

Raindrops

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

It’s been pouring down all day. We woke up to the music of street musicians outside, in particular this one trumpet player whom I think might have woken us up most Saturdays since we moved to this apartment. I love it, and it makes such a nice change from waking up to the alarm on my phone. I haven’t done anything exciting, really – we’ve tidied the place up, I’ve hung up curtains in the bedroom (we haven’t had any until now, because the windows slant upwards – the only ones who can see us are pigeons), and I’ve finally got blinds in my office/closet so that the neighbors can’t sit by their window and stare at me while I work. It’s just as distracting as it sounds, can you imagine?

I did have to venture outside at one point though, seeing as I’m Maren and Kenneth’s apartment-sitter this summer, and I got to snap a few shots of these dewy roses. I’m not really a huge fan of flower photography, but I couldn’t resist. They made me want to go out and buy a fresh bouquet, or even just grab one of these and run away with them, but I don’t think Maren’s neighbors would have been too pleased if I stole their roses ;)

Banished to the book shelf

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Happy Friday-day everyone! This day could really not crawl by fast enough, but work ended eventually and I got to plant by butt firmly in the sofa corner with a bottle of nail polish. Hey now, don’t judge, we all have our vices – I hardly ever go out, so I get polishes instead. My vanity AND my liver thanks me for than one! Marius and I are going to spend the night stuffing our faces and watching a movie, as soon as we can decide on which one to pick. We’re stuck between Watchmen and Star Trek right now, but who knows where we’ll end up. Marius hung up two brand new shelves from Ikea above his desk the other day, and I asked him if they’d become our new DVD shelves. “No”, he replied. “Those are for the Blurays only”. See what I’ve got to deal with? I’m not allowed to bring home DVDs anymore! And the DVDs we already own are banished to the book shelf.  I think I might smuggle them over to the Bluray-shelves when he looks the other way.

Ok, polish time! The one I got yesterday was IsaDora’s #700 “Bel Air Blue”, and I’ve got all kinds of love for it, although it’s a bit too goopy for my taste. I need to get myself some nail polish thinner.

Ok, the boyfriend is showing signs of movie-readiness now, so I have to press publish. Enjoy your Friday! :)

P.S: I made a fan page on facebook! Clicky if you want to spread the love!

Sweet tooth

Five ingredients to make a day better. Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, and, well.. Chocolate! Photo 15 out of 365.  A sort of wonky attempt at short depth-of-field there – you see, our apartment is getting dark and I was too busy lusting after the chocolate to get my tripod!

It’s amazing how 5 little pieces of quality chocolate beats giant bars of milk chocolate each and every time. Less chocolate, but the same level of satisfaction. Ah, sweet sugary goodness.

Stores in Bergen are open until 1am today, with sales everywhere, and I didn’t manage to stay away even a little bit. 50% of on lamb wool sweaters at Benetton, can you blame me? I would have walked out of there with three, but they didn’t have  my favorite color in my size. These were also really cute though, and I’m sure they’ll see a lot of wear once summer is over. I also got nail polish (big shock there) and “Ponyo” on Bluray, I re-stocked my favorite MAC foundation.. And bought a pen. Don’t laugh, I am really picky about my writing instruments!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to sit down, pretend I’m a grown-up, and pay all my bills ;)

Lessons in nerd love

Sometimes, your apartment will look like a computer exploded in it. Or three computers. It happens. Just go with it.

Today has been one of those hum-drum, everyday kind of days – I was too lazy to cook so we bought Chinese, the apartment looks like a bomb went off, and we watched an episode of Bones before realizing halfway into it that we had already seen it before. Mediocrity at it’s finest, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s almost weekend, my last weekend before my holiday starts, and I just want the days to fly by, quickly, so that I can go to Crete already. For the last few days I’ve been dreaming of beaches and sand and the sea.  I’ve started working on my fake tan, and I feel all kinds of ridiculous as I leave my usual shade of pale-as-a-ghost. But hey, if I’m going to be seen in public in a bikini in little more than a week, I’m going to be prepared!

I can’t wait. Norway hasn’t given us much of a summer so far, but really, who are we kidding. Winter is what we do best. This is why we have travel agents.
