Teaser post

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

I’m not ready to show you the apartment just yet – we had our last trip to ikea yesterday, so the place is still riddled with half-assembled furniture and empty cardboard boxes. But trust me – it’s starting to look really good. I’ve somehow managed to pick out a lot of lighting, and I thought I’d show you some of it here – my egg-lamps that I got today, some Christmas lights in one of our smaller rooms – and there may or may not be a chandelier in my immediate future. I might have already bought it. Time will tell! ;)

I’ve worked today, so I haven’t had much of a weekend yet. Maren and Kenneth invited us over for brownies, so I’ve basically stuffed my face tonight. The only sensible thing to do, really, seeing as I’m getting oral surgery tomorrow and will probably have to stick to soup for a few days. Damn wisdom teeth, they cause nothing but trouble.

I’m still madly in love with the apartment, by the way. There are crazy pigeons outside our windows at all hours of the day, and because of the slanted walls in our bedroom, I can see both the starry sky and the snowy mountains from our bed. The place is so old that the toilet has it’s own room separate from the bathroom, and there isn’t a single perfectly straight wall or even floor to be found. I plan to live her for many many years :)

Ok, that’s it for tonight – keep your fingers crossed for a non-scary dentist experience tomorrow!

February summary

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Oh yes, it’s that time of the month again – summary time! :)

Happiest thing that happened: Moving into a new apartment. It’s big and the location is great and the rent isn’t bad at all and I LOVE it! I also got to see one of my photos in print in a book.

Worst thing that happened: I don’t think anything bad has happened. It’s been a great month for me.

Biggest annoyance: All the crap we’ve accumulated over the years that we had to take with us to the new apartment. What were we thinking? And why, WHY did we ever buy the guitar hero drum kit?!

Looking forward to: Spring, as always! I really miss the sun.

Favorite food: I’ve eaten a lot of crap this month. A lot of chinese food. Yum!

Pampering: None. Lets put it this way – you do not want to see me in shorts right now. Just call me momma bear.

Favorite workout: None. I’ve been preoccupied with moving and packing and cleaning of old apartments and buying of furniture. Getting back in the saddle this week :)

Favorite TV-show: None, I don’t have TV at the new place. Pout! But Marius has been downloading Chuck and Better of Ted, and they’re surprisingly funny.

Favorite thing: Our neighbor’s unprotected wifi <3

Favorite persons: My parents. I wouldn’t be living in a new apartment right now if it weren’t for their help! Also, the four guys who helped us move.

Discoveries: I can’t bake muffins. Not even the just-add-water kind.

Best buy: A lot of new furniture. We have a dining table now! We’ve never had a dining table before!

Worst buy: None. I’ve been a good girl. All good buys :)

Wish list: I can’t mention a single thing, that would be kind of greedy. I am perfectly content right now.

Favorite blog: Unhappy hipsters.

Blog annoyance: I’ve been too busy to reply to a lot of comments. I promise I’ll get better!

Tips for myself: Start working out again. Seriously.

All in all: February has been fantastic, despite the fact that we’ve passed the second month straight of snow. Oh, and I fotgot to show you this little ebay find.. :)

Time for a treat

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

I don’t remember when exactly, but sometime around Christmas, I made you a promise – that I would not buy any more clothes this winter. None, nada. And I’ve kept my promise! Now, however, the calendar clearly states that it’s March, and that March is spring. Conclusion – I am allowed to shop! Not much, of course, but seeing as I had today off from work I thought I’d treat myself to a few wardrobe updates!

Now, I’ve done my best to photograph my new things, but outfit blogging is hard and I don’t know how you outfit bloggers do it. From one angle I looked pregnant, from one angle I had wonky legs, and in some my head looked tiny! AAAH!

Stripy sweater, Sonia Rykiel for H&M

Glasses, Bik Bok

Face, madatory

Shorts, Sonia Rykiel for H&M

“I am so blogging this” T-shirt, Cubus

Dress, H&M

Stripy Cardigan, Sonia Rykiel for H&M

Peach skirt, H&M

I’ve been trying very hard to kick my H&M habit, honestly! But this time I just found too many nice things in there. In my defense, I stayed away from the flimsy cotton things that will be unwearable after three trips to the washing machine – I think these clothes will actually last a while :)

So, what do you think?

Hot Gossip

Saturday, February 20th, 2010

Today was harsh. Work on a Saturday, minus 5 degrees celcius outside, and it was cold inside at work as well. And I was hungry all day because of lack of proper breakfast. Okay, it wasn’t harsh at all, I’ve had three days off after all, and the lack of breakfast was made up for by eating chocolate eggs (in February! Can you believe it?!). However,  please don’t disregard the whine, because the cold and the hunger was my excuse to treat myself to a little something at MAC. A new lipstick!

Now, I’ve always been a lip gloss girl through and through. Whenever I try to wear lipstick, I somehow end up with a perfectly colored upper lip and a completely colorless bottom lip within minutes. But it’s cold and windy outside, and desperate times call for desperate measures. Wind means goopy lipgloss in my hair, and the cold turns my favorite lipgloss (Lancôme’s Juicy Tubes) frosty. No joke, after some minutes outside it looks like something Ice Princess Barbie would wear. So, it was time to turn to lip stick. I love MAC, I’ve never disliked anything I’ve bought from MAC, so I basically showed up at MAC and went “HAI, TELL ME WHAT TO BUY!“. And it worked!

Lip stick feels so deliciously grown-up. You never see teenyboppers with a lip stick in their hand. The name of the shade? Hot Gossip! For me it’s a perfect everyday shade :)

In other news, I’ve been boxed in and might not find my way out of the apartment. If I don’t show up for work on Monday, send a search crew.

Bridal shop, round two

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

Let me first of all say – there won’t be any bride photos this time around. Bride’s orders. The wedding day is getting closer and we’re all getting a bit superstitious ;)

Now, I have all sorts of love for the fact that Maren and Kenneth are getting married. First and foremost because they’re wonderful people and a great couple, but also because I’m learning SO much about weddings from being around them. There’s so much that has to be taken into consideration! Things like: Can we get married in this church if only one of us is a registered Christian? Big wedding or small wedding? Did you know that it can take five months from you order your dress until you get it, for example? I had no idea! And everything costs a fortune!

But it’s also curing me for some of my wedding phobias. You see, I’ve never been that girl, the one who dreams about her gown or her big giant wedding, the one that sits around envisioning “her” day. It has just seemed like a whole lot of work. I’ve worked in the kind of shops that couples traditionally register their wish lists in, and I’ve seen my share of manic brides with apathetic grooms-to-be in tow. “Honey, do we want this overpriced vase or this overpriced vase? This white china or that white china?” Or you get the bride flying solo, the martyr, the one who sighs and tells you all about how she has to do it aaaaall by herself and practically expects you to hang a medal around her neck right then and there. So yeah, I’ve been a bit vary of the whole wedding thing. Okay, very vary. Okay, scared shitless.

I’m also getting a newfound understanding for people who choose to spend thousands of dollars on gowns. Maybe not on wedding dresses, but gowns in general – they’re so well constructed! The fabrics, the boning, lacing, pearls.. I could spend hours just looking at how they’re made! They’re pieces of art, and every trick in the book has been used in order to make sure that you look stunning as hell while wearing them. Oh, if only one could afford couture..

But yes. To sum it all up – weddings = yay, gowns = yay, Maren and Kenneth = yay! I can’t wait for their big day :)
