Sweet tooth

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

Five ingredients to make a day better. Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, chocolate, and, well.. Chocolate! Photo 15 out of 365.  A sort of wonky attempt at short depth-of-field there – you see, our apartment is getting dark and I was too busy lusting after the chocolate to get my tripod!

It’s amazing how 5 little pieces of quality chocolate beats giant bars of milk chocolate each and every time. Less chocolate, but the same level of satisfaction. Ah, sweet sugary goodness.

Stores in Bergen are open until 1am today, with sales everywhere, and I didn’t manage to stay away even a little bit. 50% of on lamb wool sweaters at Benetton, can you blame me? I would have walked out of there with three, but they didn’t have  my favorite color in my size. These were also really cute though, and I’m sure they’ll see a lot of wear once summer is over. I also got nail polish (big shock there) and “Ponyo” on Bluray, I re-stocked my favorite MAC foundation.. And bought a pen. Don’t laugh, I am really picky about my writing instruments!

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to sit down, pretend I’m a grown-up, and pay all my bills ;)

New obsession

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

After re-discovering nail polish a little while back, I’ve done something that is very very typically me. Instead of settling for a simple shrug and a “hey, that’s neat” and moving on with my life, I’ve become somewhat of a nail polish addict. Do you know how many pretty polishes there are out there? Now, personally, I blame Airam. She introduced me to nail blogs. I did not know there was such a thing as nail blogs! Well, I do now. My bloglovin’ is suddenly full of them. Laquerized. Fuckyeahnailart. Fuckyeahprettynails. Oh, and did you know there’s such a thing as nail stamps? Of course there is, why wouldn’t there be. They’re called Konad, and now I want a poodle konad nail stamp. Airam, I blame you.

Like today. On my spending account I had 700kr left to last me till Tuesday. That’s not a lot. What did I do? I spent 200 of them on nail polishes. A huge pink from China Glaze, a matte top coat from Isa Dora, and a perfect sea green from Gosh. Now, I do realize that this one is nobody’s fault but my own, don’t worry. Can’t blame everything on poor Maria.

And that includes this. Now, This has been collected over a longer period of time, don’t worry. But still, I don’t know a lot of girls who can show this level of obsession. When I fall for something, I fall hard. Go big or go home.

And the poodle nail stamps will. Be. Mine! ;)

Glimpses

Glittery French manicure..

And the world’s most perfect anatomical heart necklace. To me, from Etsy.

I also ripped a hole in my gym pants right before spin class (on the bum, no less!) and had to go buy new ones. I like to think of it as the Universe telling me the weather was far too nice to spend the day at the gym ;)

Breton stripes

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

I don’t think I’ve done any outfit posts at all in May, have I? I blame the lame of remote. But hey, the remote is back, so no more excuses!

I’ve never been one to resist a good hair flip ;)

Today has been another wonderful spring day. Marius and I went shopping, and he reminded me of everything I would have otherwise forgotten – stores worth checking out, food I needed to buy, he even reminded me to buy wine for the 17th! Celebrating the Norwegian national day without a nice bottle of wine? It would have been a disaster!

I also found the striped top and white cardigan in the pictures above, and I made Marius buy a tie that would match the dress I plan on wearing on the 17th. I think I’ve found the thing I love the most about living in the middle of town – being able to stop buy the apartment and leave shopping bags behind before heading back out again!

We’re home for good now though, I think I’ll make some burritos in a little while, and maybe go out and take some pictures? Who knows. I love not having plans :)

Whine and champagne

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Today I present to you a two-part post – one part whine, one part happiness. Let’s take it from the top!

You see, the first part of my Wednesday was awful. I won’t get into details as it’s work related, but I will say that in my line of work, I encounter people every day who are less than happy with something. It’s part of the job and it’s really no problem, because most of the time both parts are able to keep it at a reasonable and polite level. I really don’t mind angry people. What I do mind is people who are unreasonable and rude, and yesterday I got them by the bucket load. I was yelled at and called names, one costumer after the next. A few once in a while I can brush off, no problem, but when you get a good handful in a day, it wears you down quite a bit. By the time I got home, I was ready to slip into my sweats and take a nap.

I look like poo today, so you get a photo of my sister and the dog instead ;)

BUT! I noticed that I had received an invitation to the re-opening of a Lindex store nearby, and decided to grab Maren and check it out. There were promises of pretty clothes to look at and a musician to listen to, so I figured, why not? When I got there, it turned out to be a much fancier event than expected – first of all, there was a guest list. And it turned out, I was not on it. It turned out to not be much of a problem, someone was asked and I was let in. I later remembered that I received the invitation through my blog’s email address, and that my last name can’t be found anywhere my blog. I can’t blame them for not putting down “Maja the Piranha” on the list ;)

Anyway, the event was nice – there were nice clothes and music by Magnet, little canapés to nibble on and free champagne. I felt a little confused  as to why I was invited, but hey, no complaints here. Big thanks to Mammadamen who invited me! Oh and when we left, we each got a little goodie bag containing sunglasses, a scarf, moisturizer, makeup remover and some product samples. Maren and I went to look at bikinis afterward – I highly recommend doing this after three glasses of champagne, by the way, it makes the who thing a lot more pleasant!

Today I feel much better, thank goodness. Work has been back to it’s usual level of pleasantness, and I’m on my way to check out Maren’s wedding dress! I wish I could promise you photos of it, but I’m not allowed to post any photos until after the wedding day in October ;)
