I love the mailman

Saturday, January 9th, 2010

This is a good day. It’s a Saturday, which means that I don’t have to set a single toe outside the front door if I don’t want to. I’m not a hermit, but it’s minus 10 degrees celcius outside. If I can stay inside watching trash on the TV while sipping my favorite tea, well then that’s exactly what I shall do!

Marius, however, has set a few toes outside, which enabled him to get today’s mail. And there was something there, something for me! But first, let me show you a present I got from Sofi of yarrkarping.com last week:

It’s a necklace! Can you see who it is?

Watch my fins. Watch them!

It’s Fiskulf!! New readers might not know who the hell Fiskulf is – He was my Siamese Fighting Fish, whom I often blogged about when he was alive. So often, in fact, that he had his own tag! Sofi is the nicest :)

So yes, both mailmen and Swedes in Scotland are awesome. And so is moo.com!

I felt fancy one day before Christmas and ordered my very first business cards! And not any old cards, no – these are 50 cards, each with a different favorite photo from my flickr photostream on the back. I get to be fancy, give away my contact information, and show off my photography at the same time! Delivery was kind of slow, it took three weeks from the cards were shipped until I had them, but I’m willing to let that one slip seeing as they were shipped right before Christmas. The cards weren’t expensive at all (160 NOK if I remember correctly) and the quality is pretty great. Moo.com gets my seal of approval :)

Have a good weekend, everyone! Got any fun plans?

Today I’m going to do something I very rarely do on my blog – I know I should do it more often, but pff, I’m starting now! Better late than never.

Uh, where was I. Yes! I was going to show you three blogs that I really like. Really really like. I hope you’ll like them too :)

1. The complete truth. Swedish photoblog filled with gorgeous photos. Finding out how old the photographer is depressed me for a second – He’s 17! I smile every time there’s a new post from this one in my bloglovin’.

2. Underbara Clara. Another Swede, as I’m quite fond of Swedes. (I don’t think I’ve ever met a Swede I didn’t like.) Clara posts beautiful photos of the Swedish countryside, and writes about anything from religion to cookie recipes to feminism.

3. Hjartesmil. Hjartesmil is a Norwegian girl living in Oslo. She likes dresses and bows and her wonderful dreadlocked boyfriend. If you can read Norwegian, she’s definitely worth a read, or you can just get lost in her wonderful photographs.

In other news, I’m really looking forward to the day when I can wear one pair of tights instead of three. I hear rumors that there are people in the world who can wear no tights at all, but right now I find that very hard to believe :)

2009: a summary (part two)

Sunday, December 20th, 2009

Here’s part two of my year-in-review :)

July:

My best friend got engaged, and I made her a survival kit…

I worked in a tile shop and had to wear sturdy shoes… I absolutely hated it.

I photographed giant rhubarb…

I turned a toothbrush holder into an earring stand, which later got featured on ikea hacker, livemodern, lifehacker, and shelterpop. I should obviously hack stuff from ikea more often! The original post can be found here.

I visited my family for a brief week…

I made a bracelet…

And I quit the tile store job.

August:

In August I bought a new pet fish, Petronella…

I made some drawings…

I photographed a Coldplay concert…

And got a new job! Supplies were purchased.

September:

In September I debated whether or not to get bangs cut. I decided against it.

I got my first proper pay check and bought beautiful shoes…

And it rained. A lot.

October:

Winter came…

A pretty friend tried on wedding gowns for the very first time…

I was given my new favorite necklace…

And got to wear a crown at work for a whole day!

November:

In November I went to the aquarium with my aunt and two cousins…

I got sick and was put on sick leave for three weeks, two of which were spent at home with my family…

Where I took a lot of photos. About 90% of them had Luna in them…

… while the rest of them were experiments with long exposures.

Marius and I flew to Oslo and saw my favourite band…

…And we made it back to Bergen just in time for December.

December:

Christmas spirit snuck upon us…

White hair

I lost my beloved Grandpa… <3  He was the greatest..

And now I’m going home for Christmas! That was my year so far, I hope you liked my little summaries :)

Hot or not – November

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

Red hot:

1. Kleenex and hand sanitizer

Forget leather and studs, these are the REAL winter essentials!

2. Taking a sick-day and letting your body rest when you feel like le poo

3. Friends who meet you for a cup of tea

4. Boyfriends who bring you holiday catalogs and starts planning trips with you to cheer you up

5. Getting a call from someone who wants you to see their apartment

6. Fashion shoots, Tim Burton style

Via livingdoll.blogg.no

Super-NOT:

1. Headaches and snot

2. November weather – no leaves left and a ton of rain

3. Screaming children in the apartment above you

4. Dr. Phil. God I hate that man.

Yup, home sick today. Going back to work tomorrow though, it seems my body just needed a bit of rest. Maren met me for tea today, and we started planning our upcoming girl-trip. We want to go somewhere in January/February most likely, somewhere not too expensive, where we can shop our socks off with a few other girl friends. Do any of you have any good suggestions? We’re already thinking Prague, or maybe Budapest? :)

Viva la vida

Wednesday, August 19th, 2009

I just heard Chris Martin and his gang live at Koengen here in Bergen! Didn’t have a ticket, so I brought my camera and and watched from outside the fences.

How was it?

Fireworks!
