A day in front of the camera

Monday, December 5th, 2011

As most of you probably know, I spend a whole lot more time behind the camera than in front of it. I absolutely love taking photos, but I turn into an absolute bread stick when being photographed by somebody else. I can’t help it! My jaw clenches and my smile will turn into the most fake looking thing you ever saw, it is truly awful. Knowing this it must seem a little weird that I volunteered to get photographed for stock photos for the company that I work for, but I figured it would be a cool experience and that the photographer must have dealt with plenty of bread sticks in his time. It did go perfectly fine, and I thought I would show you a few of the photos that I liked the best :)

We had a lot of fun running around trying to look natural while we pretended to text, chat on the phone and take photographs of ourselves, and for me personally it was cool to see how a proper photographer works out in the field. I even got to fangirl a little bit over his camera equipment – I wanted all of it, of course, but I don’t think I should get any big upgrades until I’ve outgrown what I am using now. Those things are expensive, after all – or that’s what I keep trying to tell myself, anyway ;)

All photos are taken by Sjurd Skutlaberg, and belong to Chess Communications. Published with permission, do not reblog.

Done hibernating

And I’m back! If you are reading this it means that you stuck around despite my hiatus. Cyber-hugs for you :)

The oomph isn’t completely back, so posting might not be super-frequent, but I shall give it my best. I needed a little break to regain control of my time and energy, and the pesky winter blues weren’t exactly helping – these days the sun rises at 9.30 am and sets at 3.30 pm. That is 5 hours of sunlight every day, all while we are inside at work! Remind me why I am living in Norway, again?

BUT! The solution to the winter blues sure as hell isn’t to mope around between the comfortable cushions of my sofa (although they are mighty comfy), so here I am, getting ready to show you what I have been up to. I even brought out the ink and knitting needle, just for you. While I was gone I…

And that is basically it! Fun note about the bag – I bought it as a Christmas present for Maria (it’s cool, she knows already) at a Salvation Army store a good drive outside town. I loved the bag and figured she had to have it, seeing how she’s such a fan of vintage fashion. Well, I took it out to have a closer look at it a few days ago, and it turns out the bag is by American designer Martin van Schaak who apparently made bags for Jackie O, Nancy Reagan, and Marlene Deitrich! I think that is beyond cool, and I’m so happy it will end up with someone like Maria :)

A visit from Maria

Monday, October 24th, 2011

This weekend I had a visitor over, namely the lovely Maria of lost in a spotless mind. I have visited her in Oslo a few times already but this was her first time visiting me in rainy old Bergen. I hadn´t seen her since July so it was wonderful to see her again, and we went all-out girly with cup cakes, candy, tea, and general chitter chatter.

That is her, me, and my freakishly claw-like hand.

Now, when I say rainy I do mean rainy. We are talking rain of biblical proportions. But it was nice because we got to sit inside and watch makeup videos on youtube (Pixiwoo and Lisa Eldridge, por favor), and also stuff our faces a bit. Marius even made us tapas! Maria was also nice enough to teach me some new hairdos, because I absolutely suck at doing my hair.

Look, she even taught me how to do a poof!

That’s not all she did though – Maria is a fashion consultant after all, and what she really wanted to do was to unleash her consulting upon me and my closet. How did that turn out, you ask? To be continued…

Changes

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Just a quick post to let you know that I have made some changes to the blog (or, let’s be honest – I’m fishing for feedback). I made the post area wider to allow bigger photos, and I made a new header. What do you think? Hot tip – if things look weird, try refreshing your browser.

In other news I have caught some ungodly cold from a colleague. I feel like I have half a lung and the stamina of a ninety-year-old – I had to run down the stairs to get a package from an UPS delivery man and it nearly killed me!

Any questions?

Seeing as I haven’t posted anything since Monday, plus the fact that I’m busy all weekend, I was thinking that the blog can’t be this quiet for this long. So I’m kicking off a question round! Ask me anything you want, but keep it PG-13 – my dad reads this blog you know. I will answer the best I can and illustrate some of the answers.

If nobody asks me anything I will delete this post and hang my head in shame.

Here’s an owl face. Thank you for your time!
